In the Holy Quran, Chapter Ar-Rahmaan, 55:15, 15 it says:
He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire.
In the Islamic tradition we believe that there is an unseen form of life, made of fire that lives among us here on Earth. This life form, known as Jinn, are of varying faiths, some are Muslims some are not. They live in a parallel existence among the human race.
I've always lived with the belief that I live my life and they live theirs. I feel like sitting before a flame is like inviting something toward me that I have no right to interact with.
So, there you have it one Muslim's perspective.
As for being in the present moment. It was a lovely day for that. Dinner with a woman who I have a great deal of respect for, a creative wonderful woman whose friendship I am grateful for. Followed by coffee and dessert at the "just opened today" Mildred's Temple Kitchen. For you Torontonians out there who miss Mildred Pierce - she's baaack!
